Hey 👋
I'm Thomas, I build apps. SweatPotatoes is my new one: I'm coding it to help people get back into sport.
And I know that isn't simple. You put it off, you find a good reason, and three weeks go by.
I built SweatPotatoes to make it easier: you find a partner, each of you plans a workout, and you encourage each other even from a distance.
I use it with my girlfriend. It gets us moving even on the days we don't feel like it, and it keeps us connected when we're not together.
How the idea came about.
With my friends, in my family, at work: whenever getting back into exercise comes up, I hear the same sentences come back.
01
Here's the reality right now

You might recognise yourself in there.
If so, stay on this page: I'll explain how SweatPotatoes works, and it might help.
02
Then I looked at what the research says
Training with someone can help you stay consistent. You encourage each other, make plans, and have one more reason to go on days when motivation is low.

Over time
What the research keeps finding
- Support from a partner helps you keep going
- Enjoying your workouts helps you stick with them
03
What that turned into, inside the app
Every sentence I kept hearing became a step.
- 1
« I'm scared to go on my own. »
A partner to support you
You invite one person, just one. Even from a distance, your partner is counting on you, and you on them. The app connects you while you each train wherever you like.

Your partner is counting on you - 2
« I'm starting next week. »
Each of you plans a workout
A morning run for one, an evening gym session for the other: each of you picks your sport, place and time. You commit to your own workout and encourage each other to follow through.

« I'm not motivated. »
Seeing your partner move gets you moving
Their workout photo appears right on your home screen. A quick glance at them getting active can give you the nudge to get going too. Even from a distance, you motivate each other.

« I pay for the membership and never go. »
Something on the line
Whoever bails spins the wheel: coffee's on you, playlist roulette, rematch. Nothing mean, just enough to go anyway.

Whoever bails spins the wheel
« What gets me moving is seeing my partner do their workout too, even when we’re apart. »
How it works
Invite one person and the app connects you. Each of you plans a workout wherever and whenever it suits you, then shows the other you did it. You can do different sports and motivate each other from a distance.

- 1
You invite your partner
Just one person: your partner, your best friend, your colleague. Send them a link, they install the app, and you're paired.
- 2
Each of you plans a workout
You pick your sport, day and time. Your partner can do a different sport, somewhere else, at a different time. Each of you commits to your own workout.
- 3
Each of you proves it
Each of you does their session and proves it: a photo that shows up on the other's side, right on their home screen. That's what keeps you both consistent, and progressing together.
Try it: make your first pact
Each of you plans a workout
Pick the sport, day and time for your own workout here. Your partner can choose their own: your commitment connects you, even from a distance. When the day comes, confirm: "I did it".
You & your partner
We're looking for 10 duos to test the app.
SweatPotatoes is in testing on iPhone and Android. The first pairs shape the app: whatever gets in your way gets fixed in the next build.

Frequently asked questions
Do we have to train in the same place?
No, you can each train wherever you like, even in different cities. The app connects you: you share your workouts and encourage each other, even from a distance.
Do we have to do the same sport?
Not at all. You can go for a run while your partner lifts weights, does yoga or cycles. Each of you chooses your own activity. What you share is a commitment to keeping the habit going.
Do we have to work out at the same time?
No, each of you chooses your own time. You can train in the morning and your partner in the evening. Afterwards, each of you shares a photo in the app to show the other you did it.
